The Monochord Conservatory was founded in the town of Rethymno, Crete, in the year 2000, by two local musicians and music teachers, Vangelis Symsiris and Elsa Featham.
Having spent a decade in Athens and abroad, studying, performing and teaching, they returned to Rethymno in order to offer high standard musical education, as well as promote classical music for a wider audience.
The Monochord Conservatory premises are modern, fully equipped and in strict compliance with the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, Culture and Sports .
Our Conservatory is one of the top musical education establishments in Rethymno, where students not only have the opportunity to study music in a friendly environment with highly qualified tutors, but also to share their musical experience with their friends and family at frequently organized concerts.
Beyond music education, at the Monochord Conservatory we wish to contribute to the town’s cultural life by organizing concerts and recitals, thus inspiring in young people the motivation to study music and even to become musicians themselves.
